Classification of automobile generators

Automotive generators can be divided into DC generators and AC generators. As AC generators are superior to DC generators in many aspects, DC generators have been phased out. AC generators are classified into the following categories according to different classification methods:

1. Divided into five categories based on overall structure
(1) A regular AC generator is also known as a "silicon rectifier generator" (a generator that requires a voltage regulator to be installed during use). Example JF132 (for EQ140).
(2) The Buick sedan is equipped with a CS type generator (including three different models: CS-121, CS-130, and CS-144) on its engine.
(3) Equipped with a pump and AC generator. The pump equipped with an AC generator is a vacuum pump, not a vacuum booster pump. The vacuum booster pump is used in the car braking system.
(4) Brushless AC generator (generator that does not require electric brushes) example JFW1913.
(5) Permanent magnet AC generator. A generator made of permanent magnets with magnetic poles.

2. Divided into four categories based on rectifier structure
(1) Six tube AC generator example JF1522 (used by Dongfeng Motor Corporation).
(2) Eight tube AC generator example JFZ1542 (used by Tianjin Xiali Automobile).
(3) Examples of nine tube AC generators (used by Hitachi, Mitsubishi, and Mazda in Japan).
(4) Eleven tube AC generator example JFZ1913Z (used for Audi and Santana cars).

3. Divided into two types based on the grounding form of the magnetic field winding
(1) One end (negative pole) of the magnetic field winding of the internally grounded AC generator is directly grounded (connected to the housing).
(2) One end (negative pole) of the magnetic field winding of the externally grounded AC generator is connected to a regulator, and then grounded after passing through the regulator.
